South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: January 29, 2026

Sub-freezing morning to a seasonal afternoon with a slight chance of rain showers Friday. Arctic express arrives with dangerous and damaging cold. A few brief and unimpactful snow flurries may fly on Saturday. Blustery conditions develop with gusts 25-35 mph. A damaging deep hard freeze is expected both Sunday and Monday mornings areawide. Extreme Cold Watch Saturday-Sunday afternoon for wind chills as low as 2° to 10° with even a few miles-per-hour stronger wind speeds could challenge sub-zero values. Frostbite and/or hypothermia will occur within 30 minutes if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Remember to dress warmly with multiple layers, check on those without adequate warmth, limit time outside in the cold and practice fire safety.
