South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: January 23, 2026
Winter Storm unfolds this weekend with significant icing from a .25″ to 1″ of ice accumulation resulting in major to extreme impacts including widespread prolonged power outages and hazardous to impossible travel conditions for north and central Georgia including the Atlanta metro. In SWGA, there is a Marginal Risk of severe weather for much of the area on Sunday. A couple isolated strong/severe wind gusts of 40-60 mph and a brief tornado or two are possible. Bitterly cold weather much of next week with multiple hard freezes and dangerously low wind chills. Watching next weekend closely for potentially yet another Winter Storm!
