South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: January 12, 2026
Record warmth over the weekend (82° on Saturday) to much below normal temperatures this week with a series of arctic fronts plowing through the region this week. Sub-freezing lows with frosty conditions Tuesday morning. Briefly near seasonal readings mid-week with chance of rain showers Wednesday morning. First arctic hammer arrives on Thursday with wind chills hovering near the freezing mark all day long. Hard freeze (low 20s) likely Friday morning. Next arctic front arrives over the weekend. IF and that’s a big IF, there’s enough moisture lingering Sunday morning for a possible wintry mix or a few flurries. NO accumulation is expected at this time. And — this is NOT the ideal setup for any wintry precipitation. The continental polar airmass holds into M.L.K. Jr. Day before a moderation in temperatures early next week.
