South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: December 11, 2025

Widespread frost followed by a mild afternoon with more sunshine Friday. Warmer to near 70°F on Saturday. A stray shower is possible on Sunday. Arctic Blast arrives with a shot of much colder air as temperatures plummet to/near Hard Freeze criteria (<25°F) along with wind chill factors that take a nose dive into the teens and could reach Cold Weather Advisory criteria (<20°F) Monday and Tuesday mornings when you will need to protect each of the 4 P’s: the People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. The good news is that this is not expected to be a prolonged cold spell as a warming trend occurs for the rest of next week. The coldest Albany, GA has been thus far for meteorological winter (December-February) was just yesterday, Wednesday, December 10th at 27°F, but the thermometer read one degree colder one month ago at 26°F on Tuesday, November 11th. Average date for first freeze in Albany, GA is November 7th while the average date for first Hard Freeze is December 23rd based on the current 30-year (1991-2020) climate-normal period. So, if the forecast verifies, the season’s first Hard Freeze would come one week earlier than normal this year.
