South Georgia communities celebrate MLK Day with Impact Days of Service
ALBANY, Ga. – This Monday, residents across South Georgia are invited to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by giving back to their communities. The Albany Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Eta Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are hosting an Impact Day of Service in Albany, Sylvester, Cordele, and Cuthbert.
Community members can pick up essential items like blankets, hats, gloves, socks, scarves, and food at various locations throughout the day. The events are free and open to the public, making it an easy way for anyone to participate in service while honoring Dr. King’s message of unity and care.
Event Locations and Times:

Albany: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Jane Wilson Boys & Girls Club, 1012 Holloway Avenue

Sylvester: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., First African Baptist Church, 606 West Pope Street

Cordele: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Annex, 108 South Joseph Wright Drive

Cuthbert: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Around the Square in Historic Downtown
Organizers encourage everyone to take part, whether by picking up items, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. It’s a meaningful way to give back and continue Dr. King’s dream of community service and compassion.
