Snowball Slugfest Christmas-themed baseball tournament hosted by Douglas Dragons Baseball brings holiday cheer and big league fun to Douglas
DOUGLAS, Ga. – The holiday spirit is taking over the ballfield in Douglas as the first annual Snowball Slugfest gets underway on Saturday, December 6. The Christmas-themed baseball tournament begins at 9 a.m. at the Greg Walker Youth Baseball Complex, located at 901 Connector 206 North.
Hosted by Douglas Dragons Baseball, the event features 8U, 9U, and 10U teams, and remaining spots are already limited. Team entry fees range from $200 to $325, depending on age group. Each team is guaranteed three games, weather permitting.
Spectators can enjoy a full day of holiday fun. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Children can enter for free with the donation of one new, unwrapped toy. All collected toys will be donated to the Coffee County Department of Family and Children Services to brighten the holiday season for local families in need.
Organizers are transforming the ballpark into a festive destination complete with a Christmas village, local vendors, multiple food trucks, and appearances from Santa and the Grinch. Kids can also write letters to Santa at a dedicated station, and families will be able to take photos with Santa throughout the day.
A Home Run Derby will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a $5 entry fee. Each participant will receive ten swings, and champions will be awarded trophies in each age division. Tournament champions and runners-up will receive rings.
Ages and fees for tournament divisions include:
-
8U Coach Pitch: $200 dollars
-
9U Closed Base: $325 dollars
-
10U Live Pitch: $325 dollars
The schedule will be released Thursday, December 4. Baseballs will be provided, and rules will be emailed to registered teams.
