Shots fired at Dougherty County Jail
ALBANY, Ga. – At approximately 8:06 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024, a female named Shatereian Walker entered the Dougherty County Jail lobby and complained about an alleged incident involving her son, who was a jail inmate.
Lobby staff immediately called the jail shift supervisor to obtain information about the incident for Ms. Walker but walker left while the lobby officer was still on the phone.
Walker walked back to her car where she retrieved a 9mm pistol and fired at least one round.
The jail locked down the lobby and contacted the 911 communications center.
Deputies and officers from the Albany and Dougherty County Police departments responded and took Walker into custody. No one was injured.
Walker is currently booked on two counts of crossing guardline with weapons, disorderly conduct, and discharging a firearm on property of another.
