Shine a Light for Hope: Phoebe Foundation’s Annual Lights of Love Tree Lighting Ceremonies

ALBANY, Ga. – The holiday season brings an opportunity to honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones through the Phoebe Foundation’s annual Lights of Love ceremonies. These special tree lightings will take place across Southwest Georgia this December:

  • Sylvester on Monday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Phoebe Worth Medical Center

  • Albany on Tuesday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital

  • Americus on Thursday, December 11. Time and location details are available through the Phoebe Foundation.

Each ceremony features Honorary Tree Lighters, courageous individuals who have faced their own battles with cancer. In Albany, longtime friends and survivors Shelly Green and Paige Rice will light the tree together. They will reflect on their journeys through melanoma and breast cancer while celebrating the community and medical team that supported them.

In Sylvester, Katrina Wooten, now cancer-free after early detection and treatment close to home, will help light the tree at Phoebe Worth. Her story highlights the importance of screenings and accessible care, and it shows how local resources make a difference for patients undergoing treatment.

For 40 years, Lights of Love has raised more than $1 million to support local oncology services. Donations provide care, comfort, and hope to cancer patients and their families. This year, you can dedicate a symbolic light for a suggested $25, with contributions directly benefiting oncology services across the Phoebe Health network.

Join your community this December to honor survivors, remember loved ones, and light the way for hope. To dedicate a light or donate, visit Phoebe Foundation Lights of Love or contact the Phoebe Foundation at 229-312-4483 or phoebefoundation@phoebehealth.com.
