SGTC officials recognized by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision for resource fair support

AMERICUS, Ga. – South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Career Services Director Cynthia Carter and SGTC Career Specialist Lisa Truitt were recognized with Certificates of Appreciation by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS), Americus Field Office, on behalf of Michael Reeves, Coordinating Chief, and Terra Taylor-Cochran, Assistant Chief, for their collaboration with the SGTC and the Department of Community Supervision Fall 2025 Resource Fair.

  DCS Assistant Chief Terra Taylor-Cochran also presented Carter and Truitt with the DCS State of Georgia Commission Michael W. Nail distinguished coin – Teamwork, Accountability, and Integrity, in addition to the Certificate of Appreciation.

   SGTC partnered with the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) to host the Southwest Georgia Community Strong Fall Resource Fair on the Americus campus in the James S. Peters gymnasium in October.

   The event brought together a wide range of local businesses, service agencies, and community organizations for a day centered on workforce development, networking, and support services.  The event was open to students and members of the broader community and was dedicated to initiatives that bridge education with workforce opportunities and public service.

  Assistant Chief Taylor-Cochran commended the dedication of both SGTC’s Cynthia Carter and Lisa Truitt acknowledging their pivotal roles in the success of the Resource Fair.  The collaborative effort exemplified South Georgia Technical College’s and the Department of Community Supervision’s shared commitment to empowering individuals and fostering community growth.
