Search underway for escaped inmate who fled from custody during work detail
DOUGHERTY CO., Ga. – At approximately 10:17 a.m. January 13, 2026, Dougherty County Jail Inmate William Hagan, who was on work detail escaped from custody. Search is currently underway by the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from multiple other law enforcement agencies.
Hagan, who is currently sentenced on Probation Violation and has several open charges: 4 cts Trafficking in Cocaine, 4 cts Firearm Possession by Convicted Felon, 2cts Drug Related Object, an 5 cts Schedule II Drug.
Hagan is not considered dangerous and there is no threat to the public. The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone who sees or has knowledge of the whereabouts of William Hagan contact the sheriff’s office at 229-302-3600.
