Search ends for fleeing suspect in Cecil, suspect in custody

ADEL, Ga. — Earlier today, the search for a dangerous suspect in Adel came to an end with a successful arrest, thanks to a vigilant citizen.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Kendrick McClendon, had been on the run since Monday afternoon when a state officer attempted to stop a Penske truck on Interstate 75 near mile marker 34 southbound. Upon halting, McClendon fled the truck, seeking refuge in a wooded area west of the interstate.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol, immediately launched a search effort, later joined by additional agencies. Despite inclement weather impeding an active search last night, law enforcement maintained a presence in the area.

McClendon was apprehended after a concerned citizen reported seeing a subject matching his description on MJ Taylor Road. He is currently being transported to Cook County Jail where he will await charges from the Department of Public Safety.
