  • Valdosta State University (VSU) VSU will implement a telework option beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, for the remainder of the day, with reduced operations on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Before 4 p.m. Tuesday, it will be business and classes as usual on campus. All on-campus events and activities scheduled after 4 p.m. Tuesday and all-day Wednesday are canceled. We anticipate normal operations resuming on Thursday, January 23, at 8 a.m.
  • West Central Health District, closed Tuesday, January 21 & Wednesday, January 22

Businesses/Civic Organizations Closings:

  • Crisp County Government Offices closes at 12:00 p.m. noon Tuesday, January 21
  • Crisp Co. Sheriff Billy Hancock has asked for all local (Crisp Co.) businesses to close no later than 12 noon tomorrow and not reopen until Wednesday evening pending road conditions.
  • Cordele Express Disposal closes at 12:00 p.m. noon Tuesday, January 21, service routes will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday
  • City of Albany Administrative offices closed Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22.
  • City of Tifton Offices to Close on January 22, 2025

Tifton/Tift County Landfill and Ryland Environmental will be closed on January 22, 2025.
Ryland Environmental will run all routes on Tuesday until approximately 1:00pm.
Police, Fire, and Public Works will still report for duty on Wednesday.

  • Chief Judge Denise Marshall has ordered all county courts, and the courthouse closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
  • Phoebe is changing the hours of operation for some locations and services.

    All Phoebe Physicians clinics throughout southwest Georgia will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and reopen at noon on Wednesday.  Phoebe Urgent Care locations and outpatient testing and imaging will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and reopen at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

    The surgical schedule at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany and Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus will be pushed back on Wednesday to begin cases at 10 a.m., and Phoebe is working to notify patients of the changes.

  • Lee County Administrative Offices closes at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21
  • City of Moultrie offices will close at 4:00 PM today, Tuesday, and remain closed all day Wednesday. Right now, the tentative plan is for employees to return to work at noon on Thursday, January 23rd.

Warming Centers:

  • Albany Transportation Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard Monday, January 20, Tuesday, January 21, Wednesday, January 22, and Thursday, January 23
  • The Club at Thornton (210 Thornton Drive) will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, and all day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, the gym will close at 7 a.m. and reopen at 6:30 p.m.
    On Monday, January 20, Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22, the Albany Transportation Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open all day and night as a warming center, even though the City’s administrative offices will be closed due to the weather.
  • Tift County Rec. Department (401 Victory Drive) Tuesday-Thursday
  • Moultrie Public Works Service Center. The Red Cross will provide 15 cots, and the United Way will provide blankets. If you know of anyone within the city who needs a ride, please contact 911. The Service Center is located at 1108 1st Street NE.
