Reckless driver killed in crash after police pursuit in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. – We begin this afternoon with an update from the Valdosta Police Department (VPD). Officers tried to stop a reckless driver involved in a fatal crash early on January 11th.

An officer spotted a pickup truck swerving and speeding off Baytree Road onto Jerry Jones Drive. The driver refused to stop, continuing to swerve between lanes at high speeds. The officer briefly pursued but lost sight of the truck. Moments later, the officer found the truck wrecked off the road, with debris scattered. The 23-year-old driver from Missouri was ejected and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is handling the investigation.
