ALBANY, Ga. – As the month of May approaches, Phoebe is making a significant impact by offering free mammograms.
Phoebe’s Carlton Breast Health Center will be offering free 3-D mammogram screenings to women who are uninsured for their annual screening.
This initiative aims to provide accessible screenings for women in the community, promoting early detection & emphasizing the importance of proactive breast health care.
“So, for the month of May, we thought it would be a good idea to celebrate Mother’s Day as well as overall women’s health and to offer the women of our community the access to free mammograms for breast screening,” said Barbette Baguidy, Manager, Phoebe Carlton Breast Health Center.
Breast cancer stands as the second most prevalent cancer impacting women globally.
Barbette Baguidy, manager of the Phoebe Carlton Breath Health Center, stresses the importance of early detection while highlighting its profound impact on women’s health.
“It is very important for women to get screened for breast cancer by getting their mammograms on a regular basis. Statistics show from the American Cancer Society that one out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Also, eight out of nine women that are diagnosed with breast cancer do not have any family history. So, with early detection, it is vital because it increases the survival rate by almost 100%,” said Baguidy.
Phoebe’s Carlton Breast Health Center is providing complimentary 3-D mammograms to the first 100 eligible women who schedule appointments.
To be considered for these screenings, applicants must be aged 40 or above, without current breast issues, have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months, be uninsured, not pregnant, and have a referring physician.
“Here at the Phoebe Carlton Breast Health Center, we want to encourage the women of our community to get their screening mammogram. Patients here at the Phoebe Carlton Breast Health Center can really feel that we genuinely care about their well-being as we strive to make every life we touch better.
