Phoebe shows appreciation for military members on Veterans Day
ALBANY, Ga. – Veterans from across the Good Life City came together Monday as the Phoebe Health System thanks them for their service.
It’s a long-standing tradition for the Phoebe Health System…
One that President, Scott Steiner has been happy to be a part of for all these years.
“Look, it’s just a small token of what we can do to thank our veterans throughout the community. And, certainly the more than 200 veterans that Phoebe employs. It’s just a great way to say thank you to them and at least have a little bit of a ceremony and a moment of recognition,” said Scott Steiner, President, Phoebe Health System.
The health system currently employs over 200 veterans across all campuses…
Like registered nurse and retired Staff Sergeant, Dan Taylor, who got to share his history from being a Staff Sergeant to helping serve the Albany community.
“Oh, it’s absolutely great to see the community get behind a base like this. But, also to get behind, you know, our team. You know, as far as the hospital goes and to show this kind of support among the community, it’s a great thing,” said Dan Taylor, RN Phoebe, Ret. Staff Sgt. U.S. Army.
But it isn’t just the health system thanking veterans, as Marine Corps Logistics Base Commander, Matthew McKinney got to thank the many people working at Phoebe for all they do for those on the base…
Including his own son, Killian.
“It’s great because he’s also been a patient here at Phoebe. So, it’s a great way for us to come and say thank you and to give back to those veterans that continue to serve here at Phoebe,” said Col. Matthew McKinney, Commander, MCLB Albany.
It’s the partnership between the community of veterans, and the Phoebe Health System that makes the Veteran’s Day ceremony at the main campus so special.
“So, it’s back and forth how we can help in health care, how we can help in the community. And, it’s just one of the many great partnerships that we have here in Albany and what makes it special to live here,” said Steiner.
And… as the health system continues to bring on more veterans in the future, it helps show that one of the areas largest employers truly cares about local veterans.
And… Steiner says the Phoebe Health System is paying the Marine Corps Logistics Base a visit next week to meet some of the new recruits at the base.
