Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital receives Advanced Certification in Infection Prevention; 2nd hospital in U.S. to earn this recognition

ALBANY, Ga. – In Albany, the Phoebe Health System announced they are the second hospital in the United States to receive Advanced Certification in Infection Prevention (AC-IP).

The certification will help the main hospital with educating the public on preventing internal infections, such as Sepsis.

In a release sent out by the health system, Phoebe has been recognized for their improvement in quality when it comes to monitoring patients for Sepsis.

We spoke with Phoebe’s Director of Infection Prevention about what this certification means to them.

“This certification says that we’re going to do things that are even higher level. And, so, because of that, that gives us an advantage to further support our community and making sure that the spread of infections are under control. We’re prepared from an educational standpoint. We educate the community as well so that they know when they should come to the hospital, not waiting around at home…” said Cynthia Chaney, Dir. of Infection Prevention, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
