Phoebe donates $200,000 funding for construction of Habitat for Humanity House as part of Investment in Neighborhood Revitalization
ALBANY, Ga. – The field of grass you see on your screen will soon become a brand-new home for a family to live in. This transformation is possible thanks to a $200,000 donation from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funding supports the Habitat for Humanity program, which offers families the chance to purchase a home with 0% interest, helping first-time homeowners get the support they need to build a stable future.
“So, our Habitat Homeowner Program is really great for families that really need a hand up and not a handout. It’s really a 30 year mortgage with 0% interest. So, they are paying a monthly mortgage payment to help them develop equity. And, it just gives them a really big jump. They get to own their own home instead of rent and a lot of them, it gives them a sense of autonomy and it helps them feel like it’s theirs, which we really love to see,” said Jordan Parker, Family Services Director.
Phoebe has already donated 5 properties for renovation, providing homes for Habitat for Humanity homeowners.
With this latest donation, they’re going above and beyond, further investing in building a strong, supportive community around the hospital.
“Yeah, I mean, we provided the land, but, you know, the land is, it is just a piece of it. And, again, it fits our mission. And, it’s a way that we can invest. We can invest in our community. We can invest in our community members and Habitat,” said Scott Steiner, President and CEO of Phoebe.
They have already built a house right next door using the Habitat Homeowners project.
With this donation they will now have a new neighbor thanks to the $200,000 dollar donation.
