Part 1: a conversation with fitness instructor Aisha Hardeman

CORDELE, Ga. — You being a fitness coach and a fitness instructor, can you tell me a little bit how you got in to the fitness industry or how you were introduced to fitness and what really caught your attention to make you keep along on this journey?

“I’ve always been into fitness since I was a little girl. My dad pretty much had me as a tomboy. I played sports in high school. I ran track. I played basketball, and then once I graduated, I went out into the military where working out got really, really intense and it challenged me. So, once I got out, had kids and I still kept going. Once I moved back here, people would come up to me and ask me, what do I eat? What do you do to stay fit? So I kind of wanted to help everyone that I came across a week and I did it for free,” said Aisha Hardeman, owner, Fitness by Isha.

This could go for intermediate and expert as well, but mainly for beginners. If you had to die on a hill saying these top five tips, health tips for people. What are the first five tips that come to mind?

“Start somewhere and do not procrastinate. That is like people number one thing, they procrastinate. “oh, I’m a I’m a start on the first,” you have to start today, because you’re health relies on it. And, if you’re an adult, nine times outta ten, you have to be healthy to raise kids to work, to be functionable. So start somewhere and do not procrastinate. Number two would be to start making small changes. You know, I want to say well, cut out drinking, whatever you may drink. I would say wean yourself out of it. Start making changes as far as cutting back on the sweets or whatever, you know, your weakness may be. And number three would be self-motivation. I can tell you all day to come work out with me. Eat better. If it’s not right within you, it defeats the purpose and four would be mindset. Mindset is everything like how you were saying. Some days we just don’t feel like getting up, getting to the gym. Even I, but I know I have people behind me who I have to be strong for,” Hardeman said.

“So, I’m going to get up, I’m going to go work out, I’m going to eat right. And, then I tell everybody, drink water, drink water. Number five, drink water and start indulging in fruits. Fruits are game changers when it comes to weight loss. Women are supposed to be drinking 2.7 liters of water a day and it 3.7. Water helps everything regulates. So, those would be my top five, and consistency, I’m gonna add six, consistency,” Hardeman said.
