NAMI Walk along with ASU Homecoming Parade scheduled this weekend

ALBANY, Ga. – Staying in Albany, a major organization’s chapter is gearing up for one of their biggest events of the year.

The Albany chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is gearing up for their annual NAMI Walk this coming Saturday.

The organization is holding the walk as part of Albany State University’s homecoming parade, and is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.

Chapter President, Angela Patterson spoke with us about how important the walk is, regardless of them obtaining additional funding through grants.

“Everything that NAMI does in the in the community is free to the public, no charge whatsoever. So, we have support groups that it helps fund. We have educational programs, classes that we’re able to fund through buying the materials. So, with NAMI, we have to buy all the material that we use,” said Angela Patterson, President, NAMI Albany.

And… if you’re interested in signing up for the NAMI Walk, see the attached flyer.
