Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce accepting leadership applications
MOULTRIE, Ga. – The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce aims to cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
The Chamber has announced it is now accepting applications for its prestigious leadership program.
“Leadership Colquitt County applications are open right now. We are still taking applicants and we’ll be taking applicants until July 19. We usually take around 20, which is kind of our goal. There is an application process that we ask them to fill out. The application is just, you know, some questions and answers about how long you’ve been in Colquitt county. What are some of your goals? What do you think Colquitt county is in need of? What are some challenges that we face? What are some good things, bad things? Want to know what type of involvement they currently have in our community. Are they involved in organization or are they serving on the local boards, that kind of thing? I think this is just a really good program. We’re excited to have it once again this year. We’ve been doing it for several years now. We have a lot of great alumni from this program and it helps them to know and learn about all the things that Colquitt county has and what we have to offer. Also learning those vital skills to be a successful leader,” said Caitlyn Hatcher, President & CEO, Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce.
Caitlyn Hatcher, President & CEO of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce, outlines the criteria for the leadership positions, emphasizing community involvement and a strong commitment to local development.
“So, we require that in order to apply or to be selected that you have to live or work in Colquitt county. You don’t have to necessarily live here, but if you work here, that’s perfectly fine with us. We do require that you have graduated or you’re no longer in school. So, usually somebody who’s 18, 19, and older is kind of the age or looking for,” said Hatcher.

“So, the Leadership Cohort, once they’re selected into the program, they will serve as a cohort for the next nine months. We’ll have a kick off as well as our previous class will have their graduation. So, it’s one big event together. And then the UGA Fanning Institute actually does our kickoff session, which will be their first class, and then they’ll go through one class a month that will be a all their class. They will have to miss work, of course. And, you know, we do different things. We have a day that’s solely focused on agriculture in Colquitt county. We have a day that’s focused on the health care in Colquitt county, on our local government, on our recreation here. Just the big things that we know are vital to our community and to our community’s success. And, we really focus on those important factors these days. And, during those days we learn about our community, but they’ll also have team building exercises and they’ll do some leadership exercises. Again, the fanning institute plays a vital role in our leadership class, so we appreciate them for that,” said Hatcher.
