Monroe High School sophomore student wins Law Day art contest
ALBANY, Ga. – A Monroe High School student was recognized by the state for an art piece as the state observes Law Day to start the month of May.
Monroe High School sophomore, Benjamin Wright Jr. was recognized by Dougherty County Probate Court Judge, Leisa Blount, on behalf of the State Judicial Council Wednesday afternoon.
Wright received the 1st place award for his illustration out of hundreds of submissions from across Georgia.
We got a chance to speak with the young man following the presentation about being selected at the state level.
“It means a lot to me. I’m glad I got to show people that it can be fun to learn about American Government…I put a lot into my art. It’s very therapeutic to me. So, I’m glad to see people enjoy it just as much as I do,” said Benjamin Wright Jr.
Another Albany student, Brilynn Bowling of Westover High School, won second place in the competition. That presentation will take place Friday morning.
