On Monday, May 15, 2023, a deceased body was found by a citizen approximately .4 miles from Gillionville Road in a canal.
After an autopsy was completed, the man was identified as Henry Lee Smith, who was reported missing to the Albany Police Department on Monday, May 8, 2023.
Autopsy results revealed no foul play was involved in his death and it appeared he drowned.
The family was notified by Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
Law enforcement agencies on this case included Albany Police Department and Dougherty County Police Department.
