SASSER, Ga. – From jams to jellies, peaches and pecans, Mark’s Melon Patch offers fresh produce for everyone to enjoy.

Homegrown veggies picked from the vine daily for you! Owner of Mark’s Melon Patch, Mark Daniels, and his crew pick fresh veggies and fruit every morning.

“Right now, were right in the middle of harvest season. As far as watermelons and cantaloupes and sweet corn. We have a lot of tomatoes and okra and squash coming off as well,” said Mark Daniels, Owner of Mark’s Melon Patch.

We also have a lot of butter beans, peas, zippers, black eyes, pink eyes. We have them by the bushel or by the pound. So, that’s a really popular item here in the summer that we have in addition to the peaches and the all the melons.

Mark shares the importance of fresh produce in the community.

“We have fresh produce coming straight from our fields. It may be an hour from the time it’s picked to the time it’s actually on the shelf, versus traveling across the country or South America. A lot of that produce has to be picked when it’s fairly immature. So, you don’t have the flavor profile that we have on our products that are picked right here and taken straight to the produce stand,” said Daniels.

It feels good to be able to supply nutritious foods that are locally grown and benefit the community as a whole.

“We’re planting pumpkins right now. So, we’re getting ready, we’re always having to be 3-4 months thinking ahead of the fall season. Our school field trips and all the weekend activities that we have with the bands, and the corn maze, all the cool stuff we do out here,” said Daniels.
