Man who jumped off bridge in jail on sexual battery

ALBANY, Ga. – On December 17, 2024, officers responded to Liberty Expressway in reference to a male jumping off the bridge. The Albany Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources also responded to search for the male. Shortly after, the male, James Jackson Hall (61) was found a couple miles in the river by the rescue team.

Prior to the incident, officers were investigating a sexual battery incident that occurred at Albany Pallet Exchange (2011 Krug St). The suspect was identified as Hall. Hall got into his vehicle after the sexual battery incident and drove himself to the bridge in an attempt to commit suicide. Hall was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for his injuries after jumping into the river.

He is currently in the Dougherty County Jail for the charge of Sexual Battery.
