Man denied bond after two-day manhunt
LEESBURG, Ga. – A wanted man, Keyshawn Xzavier Dye, was denied bond following his first court appearance this morning after leading law enforcement officials on a two-day manhunt in Dougherty and Lee counties.
Dye was apprehended and taken into custody at Shoreham Apartments as of Wednesday afternoon.
The manhunt began Tuesday afternoon after Dye fled from law enforcement who attempted to conduct a traffic stop for speeding, by jumping out of a moving car on the Liberty Expressway.
Dye was wanted on several charges including two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer after he allegedly attempted to run over two Georgia State Patrol troopers last year.
Dye faces additional charges of: 3rd degree Forgery, Theft by Possession of Stolen Mail, Identity Theft, Probation Violation, and Misdemeanor charge of Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officers.
He is currently booked into the Dougherty County Jail.
Officials that responded and assisted in the search for and apprehension of the suspect were the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), and K-9 units.
