Man charged after multiple law enforcement agencies respond to domestic dispute with injuries in Sumter Co.
SUMTER, CO., Ga. – A suspect has been arrested and charged after multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a domestic dispute incident on Salters Mill Road in Sumter County on Tuesday.
On, 10-14-2025 at approximately 4:00 PM. Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a domestic dispute with injuries. Deputies and First Responders responded to 1283 Salters Mill Road. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with an unidentified female that had obvious injuries about the head area. Deputies also observed an unidentified male run into the residence carrying what appeared to be some type of rifle. The female was quickly identified and turned over to First Responders. Deputies took the position to speak with the unidentified male that had ran into the residence with the rifle. Deputies gathered as much information as possible from the victim and determined that no one else was in the house. The male subject had several weapons inside the residence. The decision was made for Deputies to maintain a perimeter, and I contacted the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team for assistance. Negotiations with the male subject, later identified as Christopher L. Pilgrim continued throughout the night and resulted in a peaceful resolution whereas the suspect surrendered to authorities this morning. The victim was treated for injuries from the incident and is doing fine. The suspect is in custody and is charged with multiple counts of Terroristic Threats, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Assault.
