Man booked on rape charges faces additional charges following ongoing investigation
ALBANY, Ga. — On Aug. 15, 2025, Demetrius Maurice Smith, 42 was booked into the Dougherty County Jail on a charge of rape stemming from an incident at his residence on Ridgeway Drive.
Following a recent judicial hearing, where Smith was held over on the initial charge, investigators discovered information indicating a possible second incident involving another victim. As a result of the continued investigation, Smith now faces additional charges of aggravated sodomy and false imprisonment related to a separate incident that also occurred at the Ridgeway Drive residence.
Smith remains incarcerated at the Dougherty County Jail, where authorities say he poses no threat to the community.
