Man arrested in connection to woman found sexually assaulted in critical condition in Albany field
ALBANY, Ga. – On August 10, 2024, an off-duty officer found an unconscious woman in the 900 block of South Jefferson Street. The woman was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for her injuries. Once the victim was transported to the hospital, emergency personnel notified APD officers that the victim was sexually assaulted. She is in critical condition.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect as 61-year-old Johnnie Jones.
He was later taken into custody and interviewed in reference to the victim’s injuries.
Jones was charged with Aggravated assault, Aggravated Battery, Rape, and Aggravated Stalking.
Jones is currently in the Dougherty County Jail.
