Local businessman working with Lee Co. officials to build new entertainment hub
LEESBURG, Ga. – What was once a country club in southern Lee county, is now going to be the future site of what one man hopes to be an entertainment hub for south Georgia.
The man in question local entrepreneur, Terry Ho, who envisions quite a bit for the plot of land.
“We’re gonna build a top-golf like facility, just smaller, but a nice version of it. Our technology will be just like top golf, if anybody’s ever been there. It’s in Atlanta, it’s in Jacksonville. It’s everywhere…,” said Terry Ho, Owner, Grand Island Group, LLC.
But, Ho wants this to be a destination for people to come to south Georgia…
That includes amenities like a skating rink as well as pickleball courts.
As Ho puts it, it gives people something to do on the weekends.
“What we’re trying to do is build up this area to have more things to do for south Georgia. To draw people to come to Albany to shop and to eat. And, to spend time around Albany and visit. Albany was a hub once, and we’re hoping this will once again kind of kick it off,” said Ho.
But, in addition to making southwest Georgia a destination, ho wants to provide a place that will have a positive impact on local kids as well.
“…2016, we were gonna do the top golf thing. But that kind of fell through with the hospital and the land, we couldn’t make it happen at the time. But since the skate center closed, and I see it on social media with all the people complaining about children having nowhere to go…” said Ho.
In addition to giving back to the place that made him…
“This is my home, and I want to be able to provide something for my hometown. That’s why we decided to do this, me and my partner,” said Ho.
As Ho continues to work with lee county on making this entertainment hub a reality, he’s hoping that what he has planned now is just the first step.
Ho says that the target date to have Grand Island Park open is by summer of 2024.
