Little Hippie Chick Tie-Dye Shirt Shack holds ABAC move-in event

TIFTON, Ga. – Downtown Tifton buzzed with excitement as Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) welcomes a new wave of students.

Over the weekend, incoming freshmen from ABAC filled the area, getting ready to move in. Local businesses, including Little Hippie Chick Tie-Dye Shirt Shack, opened their doors to greet the new students.

“We have our ABAC move-in event. This is our seventh I believe. We just try to provide a place for the kids to come. We really focus on local music and art, so we try to kind of push that. We’ve got some tarot readings today. We’ve got live music with Scout and Joel Jones. We’re doing some henna tattoos, so just some things to kind of add some fun to downtown,” said Niki Dasher, owner, Little Hippie Chick Tie-Dye Shirt Shack.

Many stores welcomed students with free school supplies for all grade levels and held store-wide sales to celebrate the arrival of the class of 2028.

Niki Dasher, owner of Little Hippie Chick Tie-Dye Shirt Shack, discussed the downtown Tifton program and their role in making the event a success.

“Really, I have to give credit to downtown Tifton, their downtown Tifton program. They really push a lot for downtown businesses. I know we’re not the only ones doing an event today, so it’s kind of a community thing. I know they’ve got kind of a game type thing going on with the kids. They include a bingo card and you have to go to each store and just give them a chance to see the other stores. And, it helps us get some exposure for our items,” said Dasher.

“I’m excited about the pot heads and the music. My mom comes here to see Miss Niki with my dad. This place is just amazing,” said Sofie Talor, Customer & Participant.

Little Hippie Chick Tie-Dye Shirt Shack is more than just a destination for handcrafted eco-friendly fashion and home decor; the business is also deeply committed to giving back to the community and providing opportunities for students.

“Again, we support local art and music, so we try to provide a place for art majors to display their works. Music majors to come and have a place to play. And, we provide internships with the college and really just try to kind of be involved because that’s our crowd,” said Dasher.
