Leslie mayor arrested on aggravated battery and terroristic threats charges

SUMTER Co., Ga. – The mayor of Leslie was arrested Sunday evening and is facing multiple charges, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Corey Michael Capone was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at a residence in the 170 block of South Bailey Avenue in Leslie.

Authorities say Capone has been charged with one count of Aggravated Battery, one count of Criminal Interference with Government Property, and two counts of Terroristic Threats and Acts.

Officials have released few details about the incident, citing an ongoing investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office has not said whether additional charges could be filed. More information is expected as the investigation continues.
