Law enforcement searching for fleeing occupant near Cecil, he is considered armed and dangerous
ADEL, Ga. — On Monday, February 5th at approximately 2:40 PM a State Officer from the Department of Public Safety attempted to stop a Penske truck southbound on Interstate 75 around the 34 mile marker southbound. As soon as the truck came to a stop an unknown individual ran from the truck and crossed the fence in to a wooded area west of the Interstate. Law enforcement from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol immediately began searching for the individual in the area. They have since been joined by numerous additional agencies as the search continues. There continues to be a heavy law enforcement presence in the area around Cecil and to the west.
The individual is described as a Black male, standing 6 1/2 feet tall and weighing approximately 300 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Due to his continued flight the individual is considered dangerous and the public is encouraged not to approach him and to avoid the area if possible. If you see someone matching this description call 911 immediately. We will continue to update the public as the search continues.
The subject being sought is Kendrick McClendon DOB 01/03/2001.
Due to inclement weather the Georgia Department of Public Safety has decided to suspend the active search for Kendrick McClendon. Law enforcement will maintain a presence in the area in case he is sighted. Residents in the area should secure their vehicles and report anyone or anything suspicious to 911 immediately.
