Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful to host electronics recycling event

ALBANY, Ga. – The city and county are offering a chance this weekend for the public to properly dispose of a variety of items.

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful is hosting an electronics recycling event this Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.

For over 20 years, the group has provided a free service for disposing of electronics, medication, tires, and shredding private documents.

We spoke with the interim director about their efforts to offer these valuable services.

“When you throw things on to the ground illegally dumping, they cause problems to happen with our groundwater; things leak into our groundwater. The components in the recycling items tend to leach into our groundwater. So, we are here at Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful want to promote the proper disposal of those items. And, it’s just an environmental win for everyone,” said Laverne Levins, Interim Director, Keep-Albany Dougherty Beautiful.

The recycling drive will be taking place in the parking lot behind the Albany Civic Center, rain or shine.
