Idalia causes tree damage, significant power outages in Adel

ADEL, Ga. – Multiple Adel residents were affected by the fierce winds of Hurricane Idalia as it knocked down trees and power lines in the area.

“The wind was blowing real real hard and next thing we heard something crack, then next thing we knew it was popping tumbling over,” said Dexter Bridges, Adel homeowner.

Cook County Police were also in the area to help anyone in need.

“So far today we’ve just been going around managing the roads, cleaning up trees that we can get out of road, especially during the biggest part of the storm, we get called that there are trees in the road and we got to respond,” Sergeant Eric Nava, Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

The Cook County Police have made it their mission to help as many residents as they can in the aftermath of the hurricane.

“We really just ride around if we get a call in a particular area where there’s a tree down because more than likely there’s more trees down in that area so really at the peak of the storm we really wait for the calls to come in,” said Sergeant Nava.

With harsh winds and so many fallen trees cook county can only hope to pick up the pieces.

“I was so scared, I thought the two trees over there were going to fall over our house,” said a Cook county resident.
