(LKL) CLANCY TRIAL HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR POSTPARTUM CARE
Lindsay Clancy is a Massachusetts’s mother accused of murder for killing her three young children while allegedly experiencing postpartum psychosis. Her trial, which is underway now, is raising awareness of the mental health challenges faced by new mothers. One expert in the field says the U.S. Is in the “Middle Ages” when it comes to this condition due to lack of research and recognition of postpartum psychosis. “It’s missed not only by the general population, but also by the medical profession,” says Dr. Veerle Bergink, a psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Women’s Mental Health Center. “They do not get training in it, how to detect it, how to treat it.” Correspondent Leigh Waldman has the details in a 3pET PKG with FREE custom talkbacks from New York City.
