Homicide investigation underway in Albany after body discovered inside vehicle
ALBANY, Ga. – A homicide death investigation is underway after a body was discovered inside a vehicle near Joshua Street, according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
The Albany Police Department (APD) said a body of a 38-year-old Black man was discovered inside a vehicle, near a wooded area near Joshua Street by a Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officer.
Coroner Fowler said this is a “suspicious death” and the case is confirmed to be a homicide investigation at this time.
The call came in to coroner’s office around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17.
The cause of death is unknown and is yet to be determined at this time.
The identity of the body is not known at this time pending notification of family members and next of kin.
The vehicle has been removed from the scene with the body inside as investigators obtain search warrants.
It is also unknown if the vehicle belongs to the individual where the body was discovered.
