Homicide Investigation in the 1500 block of Whiting Ave Update

ALBANY, GA – The Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau is seeking the public assistance with locating a man wanted for questioning in connection to a homicide that occurred at 1514 Whiting Drive.

23-year-old Michael Jerome Jackson was allegedly contacted prior to the homicide incident for help resolving a domestic issue — he reportedly asked about possible firearms being at the location and after arriving home, the homicide occurred.

Jackson’s last known address was in the 1900 block of South Flintlock Drive. It is recommended to use caution as he may be in possession of firearms.

On March 18, 2023, officers responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of Whiting Ave, around 1:20 A.M.

Upon arrival, officers saw a black male lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his neck.

The victim was identified as Claudarius Cesar (18). Shamya Haynes (20) told officers that she and Ceasar were in an on-and-off relationship, and he was living at the residence with her.

Haynes said that she called a male to vent about her relationship problems with Ceasar, before arriving home.

Haynes said once she arrived home, she told Ceasar to go outside because he was smoking.

Once Ceasar stepped outside, Haynes told officers that she heard shots fired.

Haynes said after the shooting, she ran outside and noticed the victim shot in the neck, and she called the police.

A person of interest, in this case, has been identified as Michael Jackson (23).
