Good Life City residents provide feedback to law enforcement through CALEA public comment portal
ALBANY, Ga. – The residents of the Good Life City are invited to provide feedback on the performance of the Albany law enforcement.
The Albany, Georgia Police Department, as a distinguished CALEA (Commision on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) accredited agency, is pleased to extend an invitation to community members to contribute valuable feedback on the department’s performance as a public safety entity.
This initiative underscores the department’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the ongoing enhancement of their law enforcement services.
“Well, we take the feedback from the portal very serious and how we address that; we make sure that we get with the officers to provide that feedback to our officers and we discuss ways of enhancing our policy annually. So, if we need to add to the policy certain things that citizens have put on there based on CALEA, it gives us a roadmap to how the officers are supposed to respond. We do hold officers accountable. We do that by what we get from our feedback off the portal and from citizens surveys that we have online on our city website. Also, we use evidence-based policing. Our data is placed on our city website for citizens to go into view exactly where we are monthly and annually,” said Wendy Luster, Deputy Chief, APD.
Submitted feedback will be evaluated within the context of its relevance to compliance with standards and the principles of CALEA accreditation. The public comment portal is accessible at www.Calea.Org or by searching for the Albany Ga Police Department under the public comment portal section.
Deputy Chief, Wendy Luster, emphasizes the significance of community engagement in molding our steadfast commitment to excellence in Albany law enforcement practices.
“Community input is very important. We take it very serious. It helps us to be more accountable and it also helps us to ensure quality services for our citizens. And we respond in a more professional way than what we already do. We look at what we are receiving in terms of data and that is how we deploy our resources. If we also need to engage with our citizens. We have our crime prevention team. We also have our community resource officers, who are able to go out in area where our officers on the beat may not be able to respond because of the high call volume. So, we utilize the resources we have from every division in the department,” said Wendy Luster, Deputy Chief, APD.
