Getting your ride ready for summertime
Summertime is coming!
ALBANY, Ga. – We all know how this brutal Southwest Georgia heat can effect us humans during the summer. But… many don’t know how badly it can effect our vehicles.
Mary Alex Anders sat down with a local mechanic here in Albany who discusses tips and tricks on how to keep your vehicle safe from the heat.
“Biggest thing we see is air conditioning. Number 2 would be the cooling system of the engine,” said Tom Gieryic, Owner of Gieryic Automotive.
Gieryic says this brutal heat is also an enemy to engine oil, tire pressure and the liquids or fluids in our car… But he says many people overlook one important vehicle necessity.
“There’s two times in the year where our batteries go through the roof. When it’s cold then it turns warm or hot, we sell hundreds of batteries,” said Gieryic.
Most issues will light up in your dashboard… However, Gieryic says the best way to notice an issue is to simply know your vehicle before minor problems turn into major ones.
“What I tell people there’s nobody that know your car better than you. We can use your car for example. your car made this horrific noise when you open and close the door. The retainer when you open and close the door was loose. we tightened up and it was fine. but it would would’ve left it, it would come off and you might have even had to have an entire new door,” said Gieryic.
