Georgia Power Safe Heating & Cutting Heating Costs

ALBANY, Ga. – As temperatures continue to drop overnight, Georgia Power is urging customers to prepare for ongoing winter weather by staying safe, warm, and energy-efficient, all while keeping power bills under control.

Heating typically accounts for 50 percent of a home’s winter energy use, but small adjustments can make a big difference.

Georgia Power suggests changing filters monthly, keeping vents clear, and setting your thermostat to 68 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Every degree below 68 saves 3 to 4 percent on energy use.

Additionally, utilizing natural heat by opening blinds or shades on sunny days can warm your home at no cost, while closing them at night helps minimize the chill from cold windows.

Georgia power remains committed to supporting customers through the winter season, with crews standing by to respond quickly and safely to severe weather.
