GBI Requested by the Quitman Police Department to Assist in a Murder Investigation, Suspect In Custody
QUITMAN, Ga. – UPDATE: Proctor turned himself in to the Brooks County Jail as of Monday afternoon and is in custody.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, about 10:14 p.m., Quitman Police Department contacted the GBI and requested assistance with a shooting that took place at 201 W. Hill Street in Quitman, Geogia where a male identified as EDWARD DENSON, 25 years of age, had been shot. Agents and Crime Scene Specialists arrived on the scene to assist Quitman Police and begin the investigation. DENSON’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab where a thorough examination will be conducted.
Agents and Quitman Police conducted interviews, collected evidence and processed the crime scene. During the investigation, it was determined that KHALIL PROCTOR, 20 years of age, was the alleged shooter. Agents have obtained arrest warrants for PROCTOR for the offense of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and Felony Murder. At the time of this release, PROCTOR is not in custody and is wanted by the GBI and Quitman Police in connection with the death of EDWARD DENSON.
This case is active and ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090. Once complete, the case will be turned over to the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for their review.
