GBI arrests 4 men in Tift County homicide
The arrests are in connection to the death of Travis Lamar Caruthers, age 42, of Tifton, GA. Harris is being held at the Coffee County Jail. Searcy, Perry, and Daniell are being held in the Tift County Jail. The investigation is active and ongoing.
TIFTON, Ga. – On Sunday, July 16, 2023, the GBI and the Tift County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kadeem Harris, Jr, 34 of Lenox, GA, charging him with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault. Harris was taken into custody at 109 E. 14th Street in Tifton, GA after a brief standoff with law enforcement officials.
Police also arrested the following people in connection to this investigation:
- Carlos Searcy, 48, of Tifton, charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault
- Lakisha Perry, 35, of Tifton, charged with Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
- John Daniell, 47, of Eastman, charged with Possession of Cocaine
The arrests are in connection to the death of Travis Lamar Caruthers, age 42, of Tifton, GA.
On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, the GBI was requested by the Tift County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a death investigation in which a man was found dead at 1467 Shanna Drive, Tifton, GA. Deputies responded to the location and found Caruthers shot multiple times. Caruthers was taken to Tift Regional Hospital where he died. A GBI Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy.
Harris is being held at the Coffee County Jail. Searcy, Perry, and Daniell are being held in the Tift County Jail.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
