GBI announces promotion of Albany resident Clinton Karsten to Assistant Special Agent in Charge

AMERICUS, Ga. –  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announces the promotion of Clinton Karsten to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Americus.

“ASAC Karsten is a great leader and has been a great investigator,” said GBI Director Chris Hosey. “Since becoming an agent 8 years ago, he has positively impacted this agency and I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in this role.”

“ASAC Karsten is hardworking and has a passion for his work”, said Investigative Division Director Cynthia Adkins. “ASAC Karsten has served the communities in and around Americus for a number of years creating valuable experience and professional relationships that will help him as a leader and mentor within the work unit.”

ASAC Karsten began his career with the GBI in December 2015 as a Special Agent assigned to the Regional Investigative Office in Americus, GA. He has been assigned to this office for 8 ½ years. In 2018, Karsten was selected to be part of the GBI Special Enforcement Team (SET). As a specialized role within the Special Enforcement Team, ASAC Karsten also became a certified EMT.

Karsten graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a concentration in Legal Studies. He currently lives in Albany, Georgia with his family. ASAC Karsten is also a native of Sylvester, Worth County, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of four divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Legal Division. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $147,482,036.
