Gallery 41 spotlights expressionist Justin Brown art exhibit

CORDELE, Ga. – In Cordele, Gallery 41 presents its latest artist exhibit, featuring the work of a talented expressionist right from Crisp county.

This month, the spotlight is on Justin Brown, a multi-talented artist who also shines in writing and music. Beyond his own creative pursuits, brown inspires young learners as a visual arts teacher at a middle school in Macon, Georgia.

Brown credits his artistic journey to the many people in his life, particularly his former teachers and family members, who have supported his growth as an artist.

We had the opportunity to speak with him Sunday afternoon to explore his work and the influences behind his creativity.

“We want the end product, but the best part of it is what we feel is the worst, which is the in-between, which is the process. So, if you can go through the process, regardless of what you look like, feel like, regardless of your status quo, whether you’re economically challenged or, you know, maybe you’re well off; but if you could just go through that, the product is going to be so much better,” said Justin Brown, expressionist.

“I had periods of time where I stopped doing art. I talked to a friend, a buddy of mine. I told him, I said, you know, I don’t know if I want to do this anymore. He said, you know what? It’s okay to just step back. You know, do something else. He said, if it’s something that’s truly a part of your life, it always come back. So I’ve always learned that kind of take a small break every now and again,” said Brown.

“I think what I want people to walk away with when they see my artwork, maybe just like, a simple story of a little kid from Cordele, a small town… Resources weren’t the best here, but anything is possible. Everything is actually possible. Just put your mind to it,” said Brown.

Brown’s artwork will be on display at Gallery 41 through September 30th. Additionally, two of his pieces will be featured at the Georgia National Fair next month in October.
