GA Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger talks with business owners of Good Life City
ALBANY, Ga. – Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger was in Albany Thursday, speaking with local business owners throughout the morning about the future of southwest Georgia, and the state as a whole.
Raffensperger met with Albany area business owners early Thursday through the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, before getting a look at the Phoebe Health System’s simulation center…
Something he says will play a major role in re-developing Albany.
“…These are all of the key elements of what brings your city leadership together. The city, county working together with their business leadership. It’s really exciting about the simulation center, got a tour of that. We have a real huge shortage of nurses, and what it is is an investment of dollars and resources they’ve put into that…” said Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger.
In addition to the growth of the Phoebe Health System, the recent efforts to turn the Good Life City into a destination came up.
“…It’s an upward cycle, and so when you add additional sports facilities and games, that adds a reason for people to come to Albany and pulls people from the whole region,” said Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger.
But, as well, Raffensperger brought up a program that is starting to become integrated in other parts of the state that would serve well in Dougherty county… That being financial literacy.
“Just last week we had that program offered in five high schools in north Georgia. We’re going to be at three high schools this week. And, we want to make sure everyone in Dougherty county understands, that program’s available right down here for all of your high school students. We think before someone leaves high school that they have enough financial background…” said Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger.
And, Raffensperger also mentioned the issue that put national attention on him the previous few years…
Voter integrity ahead of election day and 2024’s presidential election.
“I want everyone to understand, that we have struck the proper balance. That’s why Georgia is number one in election integrity. We have the proper balance of accessibility and security. Elections in Georgia are safe, accessible, and fair,” said Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger.
As Raffensperger laid out the initiatives and plans to Dougherty county’s business owners, the prospect of revitalization could become reality in the next couple of years.
Raffensperger took part in a similar visit to Thomasville Wednesday morning.
