From trailer to storefront…
Hitchin' It Boutique - Valdosta
VALDOSTA, Ga. – I’m here outside Hitchin’ It Boutique, the newest clothing store to hit Valdosta, Georgia.
But while it looks like a normal clothing store on the surface, there’s a little more underneath it when you look into the story…
Owned by Rylee Brown, Hitchin’ It Boutique gets its name from its origin, where Rylee and her husband would sell clothes out of a trailer at various different venues.
She just went to pop up events at like doctor’s offices, schools, to sell to teachers and things like that, and then our customer base grew, so she went completely online, she got an app made, and then it’s just grown from there.
Doing live sales, live sales has helped boost us tremendously, so now we sell to customers all over the US.
The growth has been steady. Over the 7 years of its existence, the company has gone from pop up events, to live internet sales, to an app, to two brick and mortar establishments, one here in Valdosta, 1650 Baytree Rd and one in Albany, at 2811 Palmyra Road.
As can be expected, making the various transitions are not easy.
“This is so new to us. It’s so different from being online and being on the app. Storefronts, I mean, it’s a completely different ball game,” said Brown.
It’s always great to see stories like this one, where someone is able to take a passion project that was more to the side, and then turn it into something that grows by itself.
