Friendly City offers financial literacy classes
Financial literacy classes will be held every 3rd Tuesday at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center at 5:30 p.m.
TIFTON, Ga. – The City of Tifton is holding financial literacy classes that is sure to keep a little bit more money in its citizen’s pockets.
“We looked at our demographics and one of the big pieces that stood out was that 60 percent of our residents are renters,” said Dr. Tonja Tift, Director of Tifton Urban Development.
And…the City of Tifton wants to see that change.
Dr. Tonja Tift, Director of Tifton Urban Development says anyone can benefit from taking financial literacy classes no matter the income bracket they fall into.
“I just believe that even the person that has the most money or the least amount of money can benefit from financial literacy,” she said.
The financial literacy classes being offered by the city helps residents develop better financial habits.
“So we have talked about budgeting and of course expenses, we’ve talked about credit scores, and credit reports. We’ve talked about monitoring credit,” she said.
Very important subjects that will benefit Tifton residents in the long run…
“And if we can help one person become a homeowner or help people increase their credit scores, its just going to be a wonderful thing,” she said.
