First Baptist Church of Moultrie’s Good Friday luncheon and Easter festivities
MOULTRIE, Ga. – With a focus on fostering fellowship and spreading joy, the First Baptist Church of Moultrie host a series of community events.
The First Baptist Church of Moultrie initiated their community event lineup by hosting a Good Friday luncheon. Welcoming all members of the community, attendees enjoyed a complimentary lunch and received an uplifting message, marking the beginning of the Easter weekend festivities.
“We would love to share our gospel message of Jesus, our savior, with those outside of our walls and also inside our walls. So, we decided today to open up our facility to as many people who wanted to come to enjoy a free lunch. Of course, sing a few songs with us and hear a gospel message. But, just to show the community how much we care and how much we love them,” said Jessica Key, Church Administrator.
In addition to the Good Friday luncheon, the church organized an Easter egg hunt, inviting families and children to participate in the festive activity. The weekend’s events concluded with a sermon on Easter Sunday delivered by Pastor Matt Peek to the congregation.
“We will also have prayer that same evening here in our sanctuary at seven, where we’re going to get together and pray for the actual Easter services that we have coming up. We will have two Easter services this weekend, one at 8:30 and one at 10:30, where we will have an extra orchestra with us with our very well known adult choir. And, our Pastor Matt Peek will be preaching still in a sermon series that we have called “Your Kingdom Come,” which is all the study of the Book of Matthew and the sermon series for easter is actually called, “Here’s Your Sign,” which is a spinoff of all of the signs that Jesus did throughout his ministry,” said Key.
Jessica Key, Church Administrator at the First Baptist Church of Moultrie, shares insight into the church’s core values and the significance of community engagement.
“We have four pillars that we stand on. Christ above all, the word above the world, the people above the place, and our calling above our comfort. And, those are the four standards and vision of our church. We’ve gotten very intentional since covid to reach beyond just our walls. That’s one reason why we offer the lunch that we did today at our Good Friday luncheon was specifically to reach out to the community to show them just come for free, hear a good message, have the Word of God, uplift your life and share it with your neighbors. Share it with your family. Invite everybody. And all can come. There is no judgment here. We have people that show up in jeans. We have people that are dressed to the nines with their Easter hats on. It doesn’t matter. They can come just as they are. They can come broken, they can come blessed and healed. They can come any way that they want to and it’s a church family. We are here for each other to support one another, and god is the one that leads that,” said Key.
