Firefighters respond to fire at Albany business
ALBANY, Ga. – Firefighters have been working for hours to put out a blaze in the 1100 block of 8th Avenue.
CBS 44 Reporter Brian Roche is live at the scene
Brian, how bad is it?
Well Cameron, it was certainly a scary sight this afternoon as a fire spread through not just the building you see behind me, but the house next door as well.
And, as you can see, crews are still hard at work behind me as they’ve been throughout the day.
The fire started around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, with the smoke impacting traffic as we are just a couple of blocks away from Slappey Boulevard.
It also wasn’t just this office building that the fire destroyed as there’s a house just next door on fire as you can see with some of the video we took when we were on scene here this afternoon.
From what we could gather nobody was in the office building at the time of the fire, though first responders have been urging people in the surrounding blocks to stay away to avoid any smoke inhalation.
