DOUGLAS, Ga. – The Douglas Police Department and Fire Department came together to throw an end of school bash for the students of Douglas.

“We were trying to get together to show the kids in the community how much we appreciated them and how much we were enthused to help,” said Bradley Anderson, Fire Inspector, City of Douglas.

Events like this build relationships between civilians and law enforcement.

“Sometimes when they have to engage law enforcement officers they have anxiety towards us so as human beings they get to know us as human beings besides in a uniform,” Douglas PD Deputy Chief Brannen Pruette.

Fire Inspector Bradley Anderson tells me community means everything in Douglas, Georgia.

“The community does a lot for us and its our time to give back to the community and to the kids the kids are our greatest resource,” said Bradley Anderson, Fire Inspector, City of Douglas.

Because when we all join together great things will happen.

“It takes a village to raise a child and it also takes parents in the home to put positive things in the home so that it lowers crime,” said City of Douglas Commissioner Kentaiwon Durham.

Remember to stay safe and stay cool.
